What your site takes away from the nameplate.

Hot, thin air carries less oxygen, so a set makes less power than the catalogue figure. This table is a planning guide for sizing, not a substitute for the derate curve in the formal datasheet.

Worked example

  • A set rated 500 kW prime at reference conditions.
  • Site at 1,500 m altitude and 45 °C ambient.
  • Altitude factor 0.948, ambient factor 0.99.
  • Usable output is about 500 x 0.948 x 0.99, or 469 kW.

Full derating tables and site sizing

Prime, standby or continuous. The label changes the price.

The same machine carries three different numbers depending on which rating you buy. Sizing to the wrong one is the most expensive mistake in a generator project, so here is the definition we quote against.

ESPStandby power

Rated output available for the duration of a mains outage, with a limited annual running hour allowance. No overload capability. The cheapest rating, and the right one for backup only.

PRPPrime power

Rated output available continuously under varying load, with a 10% overload permitted for one hour in twelve. This is the rating most industrial and mining sites should buy.

COPContinuous power

Rated output available for unlimited hours at a constant load. No overload capability. Required where the set is the only source of power rather than a backup.

ISO 8528-1 defines the three ratings above. Reference conditions are 25 °C ambient, 100 m altitude and 30% relative humidity. Every value we publish is stated at those conditions unless the row says otherwise.
